Lessons in Cartography is a series of curated soundscapes mapping out both the physical and sonic geography of the African continent.
Created by me for local radio station eh-FM, the part-broadcast part-artwork radio program encapsulates music, found sound footage, and commentary on the ethnomusicological landscape of different regions, highlighting varying styles, genres, and time periods. It demonstrates the dynamic character of sound and that auditory experiences move through time and space.
In many ways, it is a historical and geographical research project inquiring into creative or alternative methods of conceptualising and documenting location and cultural produce.
